Oh my goodness, can’t tell you how much I agree. Earlier in our relationship I believed every disagreement, however irrational, had to be addressed (and by addressed I usually mean screamed about). No longer. Now I believe in going to bed, waking up, and remembering that while it’s worth talking through whatever made us mad — we’re on the same team.

His family was nice enough to join him in what he calls a conversation starter about being hungry in the U.S. Unlike most people on food stamps, he knows ways to make the best of a bad situation, smartly sticking to foods like lentils, apples, rice, beans, peanut butter and jelly. Does anyone know why I can’t post pics to Tumblr via Safari on my (fifth) iPad? I can post from the iPhone app but that’s an annoying interface and I can only post one pic at a time. Want to show you my meal at Girl & a Goat!

In Safari in Tumblr’s post picture page, “choose file” is not an option (it’s not highlighted) & trying to paste a photo URL does nothing. Is it an issue with the file type of iPad pics??

Dose Market this morning with my Tumblr girls Jessi, Erin, and Megan. We sampled sour cherry grenadine and apples dipped in truffled honey, snacked on donuts, bao, smoked eggs, and pickled eggplant, sipped cider and wheat whiskey cocktail, admired python handbags and outrageous vintage jewelry, brought home balls of mozzarella and bouquets of flowers — and when it came to the siren call of new scarves, we didn’t even bother to resist: yellow tie-dye for Jessi; graphic prints in purple and blue for Erin and me. The very best kind of bad influence. The very best kind of day.

The problem with knowing the pastry chef is that they send out every single dessert on the menu. Lol jk that’s not a problem.

This was round one — the bonus round, if you will. Then they sent out the dessert that actually came with the tasting menu, a knockout caramelized brioche with a precious little cube of blue cheese and other tantalizing, unexpected flavors — a dish that Brian has been experimenting with (and perfecting) since his Corton days (see an earlier version of it here, my picture was lousy). Plus four more platters of mignardise. And for some reason I stuck two of the chocolates in my bag? Like I forgot I was supposed to go on a diet the next day? Classy.

Michael White is one of the city’s (world’s) leading chefs so there ain’t nothing I can say here that hasn’t been said except damn. Pretty much perfect. And I can testify to his range: M.’s dad is a vegetarian and they more than accommodated him; he was absolutely delighted. Instead of caviar atop his creamy globe of buffalo burrata, he got black truffle. Everyone wins. (For those keeping score at home, I ate meat. In this kind of setting, where there is so little of it and it is so fucking exquisite, I’d be crazy not to.)

We had the tasting menu so this was maybe a third of the courses. Remember when I said I was drinking swamp juice all week? Yeah.

On Monday we celebrated M.’s mom’s birthday at Ai Fiori. It was our first time although it’s been at the top of our list since it opened. One of M.’s friends is the pastry chef (he moved over from the dearly departed Corton — in fact, a whole Corton contingent is now working at Ai Fiori, including our excellent waiter, and that is a major testament to the place).

The meal started with grissini in herbed olive oil. I love this presentation — would be so elegant and easy for a dinner party, dontcha think?
