Before leaving the North Fork we had to stop at the Oyster Pond Farm stand for berries. The dad-and-son-in-law team grow and sell the best raspberries I ever did taste (you may remember when my boot and I fell in love them last year). It’s a product of location — the farm is on marshy patch near the sound, with plenty of water and sun — and low-key devotion to what they do. This year they debuted cherry tomatoes. I am not exaggerating when I say I have tasted nothing like them: as sweet as candy and as juicy as a watermelon — contrasted with the depth of flavor of a good tomato (I am very picky about my tomatoes).

(One thing you may not know about our relationship is that he has to ask permission to wear a shirt. It was not granted that morning.)
For those venturing to the North Fork, this is another must-stop: Oyster Pond Farm at 24850 Main Road in Orient.
…and the best produce is from Sang Lee Farms in Peconic and Sep’s in East Marion (Main Road between The Long Way and Rocky Point Road), where we got all this for $8.
