If I get hit by a semi this weekend, you'll know why

Ronen and Rachel just brought over home-baked treats from Ronen’s sister’s kitchen — honey cake, brownies studded with chocolate chunks, and chocolate chip cookies as big and thick as my palm.  We had a lovely chat over warm cups of scrumptious Mayan chocolate truffle tea from Alexi.  We ended on a light-headed note after a few fizzy swigs of Gingerberry G.T.’s Kombucha from Marc.  (And they left me with South African tea from Nick.)

In a few minutes, Liz is coming over to watch the debate, bearing hot-from-the-oven eggplant Parmesan made by her boyfriend Bill.

And I’ll read myself to sleep tonight with the stuff foodie dreams are made of: a passage from Secret Ingredients, a happy birthday/get-well gift from my sister that arrived today.

Y’all really need to stop treating me so good.
