My parents are really just the coolest.
This is one of my favorite shots of them, from a relaxing little 2005 rendezvous in Austrian wine country, near my father’s ancestral town.  We stayed at a winery, drank plenty of grunewein (green wine), gawked at the storks that nest in ancient villages, and visited a castle once presided over by a sadistic noblewoman who kept her Iron Maidens busy.  One day we walked across the Hungarian border and drank beers.  Back in Vienna — a city simply unmatched and all the more remarkable because it was almost completely rebuilt after WWII — we ate some unforgettable mohnkuchen, chocolate and poppy seed cake, which my dad is still trying to recreate at home.
Happy anniversary (again)!
