Stopped by the Friends & Family opening of Mighty Quinn’s Barbecue on Monday. Their “Texalina-style” brisket developed a huge following at Smorgasburg but I’d never tasted it myself — let me tell you, it is more than worth the hype. The sides and fixins were stellar, too (I love how they have something for everyone: vinegar- AND mayo-based coleslaw). My only regret was that I was too sick to eat much. Fortunately it’s ridiculously close to home — on the corner of 2nd Ave. and East 6th. We will definitely be back, probably far more often than is wise.
Heads up! It opens to the public tonight. Get the brisket, burnt end beans, all the fixins (pickled cukes, onions, etc.), and um, everything else on the menu. Just be sure to bring friends, if for no other reason than it means you can try more. (Your friends won’t feel used, trust me.)
