BEACON OF HOPE
In the late 80s, my dad did some work in Zambia for the African National Congress, which was exiled from South Africa. He used Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing! software with students in the ANC’s Economics department. The young men were smitten with the beautiful, confident black woman in the cream power suit (below), who was, of course, as real as Betty Crocker.

Whether it was for the revolution or for the possibility of someday meeting such a woman and impressing her with their computer skills, the guys learned to type.
