Late blooming
In his 30s, after years of psychoanalysis, novelist Louis Auchincloss emerged with “the conviction that a man’s background was largely his own creation, and if he spent his life doing something he hated it was his own fault and nobody else was really going to care.” (From a New Yorker article) ….. And I thought it took ME a long time to learn this (brutal, crucial) lesson!
