Dinner last night for my girls while we watched the Men Tell All special (and my boy, while he read comic books in the bedroom): pasta buried under fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, roasted CSA zucchini and eggplant, and chicken.
I had it in my head to do a raw tomato sauce — something I adore this time of year — and then the night before I came across a recipe for it in Heartburn and, you know, SIGN. As Ms. Ephron writes it:

I roasted the veggies and chicken the night before, to cut down on kitchen heat, and made the chicken using this excellent method.
All in all, a satisfying play of temperatures (hot pasta, room temp everything else) and textures. I thought the fresh mozzarella balls would melt in the pasta; they didn’t, but it worked.
