Pimp my cat

Peter emailed me this response to a Craiglist ad offering our fantastic FREE COUCH, which is accompanied by a photo of Wilkes lounging on it:

Hi,

I don’t want your couch (although I’m sure it’s lovely), but I have to know- is that gorgeous cat on the couch a maine coon or norwegian forest cat? i have a tuxedo maine coon and i’ve always wanted an orange one. Yours is absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, yeah. My cat is seriously good-looking. Tell me something I don’t know.

I’ve always said he could be earning his keep as a kitty litter model. He’s hotter than all the cats on TV, easy.

Now it occurs to me that I can make money off of him without the effort of hauling him to auditions. I’m sure there are all kinds of handsome cat fetishists out there who’d just like to stroke his fur for an hour or two. Craigslist ad coming soon.

By the way, this is the third time someone’s asked if Wilkes/Trouble are Maine Coon cats. They might be half Maine coon — Wilkes has the distinctive “M” stripe pattern on his forehead and Trouble has a Magnificent Tail.

When we found them in Wilkes-Barre, we saw their Mama, a calico, but of course Papa was a rolling stone and was probably long gone. In my imagination, he’s a hotty McHotty long-haired Maine Coon, driving the female feline population of northeast Pennsylvania wild….

Update: I’ve realized that we never actually saw W & T with the calico. She was with the other cat we rescued, who we dubbed “Perseverance Thistle” because he was frankly devilish and defied our efforts to save him from a life on the streets. He was short-haired and unlike the two other kittens in every way. So maybe W & T just happened to be hanging around, motherless.
