M. made me this necklace for our semianniversary from beads be collected on long-ago travels to a Buddhist monastery in Nepal and a Turkish bazaar, and a pendant from a mask-maker in Bangalore, India, that he picked up in May because it reminded him of me. “All the places we’ll go….” he said as he told me these tales.

It’s not something I’d pick out for myself and, to be honest, at first glance I wasn’t sure I’d wear it, but I’ve found I can’t take it off.
