I also ordered the Alexander Wang for Gap motorcycle jacket, which looks much better on a body. (It’s no longer available online.)
It will be the warmer-weather substitute to my favorite jacket of all time: a buttery, deep brown leather jacket that’s a cross between motorcycle and trench styles from an Israeli company I’d never heard of before or since. Finding it was sartorial alchemy: I just happened to wander into a store on Pacific Ave., found it on the sale rack, just one, my size, and it was more than I could afford and I didn’t even need a jacket, but oh my, did it look good on me….
Never a regret, not one. It goes with anything, and tones down my otherwise girly wardrobe.
And today I tell people: the perfect leather jacket is like a cat. Yours will find you.
