Last night we saw the excellent documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil.  I challenge you not to be touched by the decades-long friendship between Lips and Robb, the lead singer and drummer of Anvil, a metal band that was big in Japan in the ’80s and a major influence on the “Big Four” — Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer — before fading into working-class obscurity in Toronto.  But they haven’t given up the dream — the film follows them on their quest for a comeback — and most of all, they haven’t given up on each other.
