Du Pain et Des Idees, the 11e boulangerie I mentioned earlier. The name translates to “Of Bread and Ideas” but don’t let that dissuade you. It’s an experience not to be missed.
M. claims their pain au chocolate is the best he’s tasted in Paris — “and thus the best I’ve had in the world” — and their pain with bacon, figs, and blue cheese was … well, a pain with bacon, figs, and blue cheese. (If I could wake up to it every day I’d be a fat and happy girl.) But I think my favorite part was the exquisite shop itself, its quirky customers, and the thick slabs of their trademarked le pans de amis, an airy, crusty take on focaccia that is ideal for decadent sandwiches.
